    Description

    A wonderfully decorated wooden dolls bed with a spring box spring and a straw stuffed mattress and pillow. The mattress and pillow have stitched flowers on them. All four sides of the bed are stenciled, the two long sides having a bird decoration and the ends having a floral decoration with outline pin stripes. We found this bed in a collection of Folk Art in the south.
    This bed is from the 19th century and the decoration looks similar to that done in the Mahantongo Valley of Pennsylvania. The Mahantongo is located in central Pennsylvania and is known for decorated furniture manufactured in the early 1800's.
    This bed is in amazing condition with expected minor wear to the wood turnings. The mattress material is dark with age and there is one small separation of a seam at the head.
    The bed is overall 17 1/2" long x 10 1/4" wide and 10 1/2" tall.
