This powerful 24 1/2" x 11" x 6" fabric, wire and hand-painted fabric sculpture depicting a muslim man or Holy Man bears the custom label of outsider African American  fabric sculptor Lydia Hardaway.  Hardawy (1915-2004) came to art fairly late in life and experimented with all sorts of media, found objects and ceramic.  A Chicagoan for most her life, she loved color and texture and often depicted the folks she knew from her neighborhood.  This figure is dusty and likely dates to the 1970's-80s.  He is a little unsteady on his "feet".
