This old pair of solid copper bookends were made at the worlds largest copper Smelter and Mine, Chiquicamta, prior to the 1970's when Anaconda Copper Company owned and operated the mine and smelter. They were expropriated by the Chilean Government and are now operated by Codelco. This is a heavy pair with a combined weight of 5 pounds 2 ounces. They are only 4.6 inches tall, but work very well as bookends because of the weight which is mainly in the bases. Often at the end of day at the smelter, residual molten copper would be poured into bowl, paperweight, bookend, and other molds for the employees. The bookends listed here are similar (but not same) to several different cast copper items I will be listing soon. FAST & FREE USPS PRIORITY SHIPPING in U.S.
