Description

Lot of 24 pure cathode copper "buttons" from the former White Pine copper mine at White Pine, Michigan.
These are from the edges of the frame upon which the copper was deposited, and formed wherever it was held on by the screws.
A variety of interesting shapes and textures.
Shown next to a half dollar, they weigh about 1.4 pounds.
Ingots were being poured up until 1982, when the mine began producing pure copper by the electrolytic process.
