A 9 pound lot of copper shavings from the former White Pine copper mine at White Pine, Michigan; possibly from milling down a wire ingot
.
Shown next to a nickel for size comparison; some have light corrosion.
Ingots were being poured up until 1982, when the mine began producing pure copper by the electrolytic process.
